The Various places to visit Gangtok

i) Tsomgo lake- Tsomgo Lake is famous for its scenic beauty of nature. It is natural clean water lake originated from the Nathula Pass. Various temples are there nearby of Tsomgo Lake, therefore the Tsomgo Lake is considered sometimes as the holy and sacred lake for most of the pilgrims.

ii) Hanuman Tok – Hanuman tok is a temple of the Lord Hanuman and is located on the top of hill of 5 km height. The Hanuman Tok is at a distance of 11 km from the centre of the main city of Gangtok. It is amidst the road going towards Gangtok-Nathula Highway.

iii) Kalimpong – Kalimpong is the most important and favorite hill station of many tourists which is located at 50 km towards east of Darjeeling. The kalimpong is enshrined with various old monasteries which is the dwelling place of various monks and Buddhist priests. Kalimpong is located at the backdrop of nature’s beauty. It is situated at the foothills of the various famous mountain ranges so called Shivalik ranges of lower Himalayas.

iv) Pelling- Pelling is a cold area at the foothills of Kanchenjunga. The main monasteries found here is Sangachoeling monastery. These monasteries are of great values due to their ancient architecture and spiritual values what they offer to the arriving pilgrims and tourists.

v) Darjeeling – Darjeeling is a very famous hill station and favorite among its visitors. The great sightseeing views of hilly terrains and snow-clad mountain peaks will cherish your heart. You can view the picturesque beauty of various tea gardens.

vi) Tashi Viewpoint – Tashi viewpoint is located 4 km away from Gangtok. The Tashi view point was constructed by the late king of Sikkim called Tashi Namgyal. Over his name the view point is called as Tashi Viewpoint. You can view the extend beauty of the nature and the various monasteries down the Tashi viewpoint including Labrang Monastery and Phodong Monastery from the top cliff of this Tashi view point.

i) By Air- Nearest Airport is Bagdogra Airport near Siliguri which is 124 km from Gangtok.

ii) By Train- Nearest railway station is Jalpaiguri (148km) away from Gangtok.

iii) By Road-There is a good network from Gangtok to various major cities like Bagdogra (124km), Siliguri (114km) etc.
